The Murmansk region is one of the most perspective regions in Russia and Northern Europe. By 2008 there has been registered 20 500 organizations, 73% are commercial companies. Foreign trade turnover with Norway constituted 231.8 million $ in 2007. Besides, Shtokman investments are estimated to 30 billion USD.
The idea of the association that will stimulate foreign business activities in the region was born in the end of 2007 with Geir Reiersen, the director general of SIVA in Murmansk. There’s no doubt, he says, that FIBA will be an important contributor to enhancing the foreign interests in the Murmansk region.
For the moment, the Association includes representatives of commercial companies from different countries.
